About Us

At My African Womanhood, our mission is to raise and empower future women leaders by equipping African girls especially in Cameroon with the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to lead. We envision an Africa where at least 40% of leaders are women, actively shaping their communities and beyond.

Founded on March 17, 2020, by two passionate philanthropists and visionary leaders, Brenda Bih and Careen Lem, My African Womanhood was born from the urgent need to coach, educate, and support young African girls on their journey to leadership.

This initiative emerged in response to the many challenges preventing girls from reaching their full potential, challenges like patriarchal norms, gender-based violence and inequality, body shaming, poor access to menstrual hygiene, and lack of sexual education. These issues hinder women’s full participation in leadership and limit their future possibilities.

To address these challenges and foster long-term impact, My African Womanhood works in four main areas:

A group of people gathered in front of a building with large columns, holding signs advocating against violence and for women's empowerment. One sign reads 'NO VIOLENCE AGAINST' followed by different groups of people, written in colorful letters. Another sign urges to 'BREAK ALL the CHAINS!' and mentions the empowerment of women. The people are wearing casual clothing and some have orange shirts or jackets, and there is a uniformed officer present.

This organization has transformed my perspective on leadership and inspired me to pursue my dreams fearlessly.
